Researching Computer Terms
Understanding computer terms is a slow process - it's important to get the BEST answers - not just the FIRST answers.
Run a Google search on "CPU" - you'll get a very clinical answer from the Wikipedia, but you probably won't understand it.
If you copy and paste this answer into a report, you're a very efficient parrot.
To be a STUDENT, you need to actually LEARN the meaning of the term, and put that definition into your own words.
Try searching for logical sentences - ie "What is a CPU" in quotation marks - what answer do you get now?
Here are a few good websites to help learn about computer components:
http://google.ca
: Try a Google Search on "How Computers Work" or "Learn Computer Components"
http://education.kaboose.com/tutoring/comp_les1.html
: A review of INPUT and OUTPUT devices is featured at
http://computer.howstuffworks.com/pc.htm
: The SEVEN major "PROCESSING/TORAGE" components of a typical computer system
http://www.webopedia.com/
: A great searchable dictionary of computer terms can be found at the Webopedia
